Using both? Safe to mix There is no known chemical conflict between Retinol and Tea Tree Oil, and neither makes the other less effective. They share a goal (acne), so together they reinforce each other. How to layer them →
Retinol in short
The most studied over-the-counter anti-ageing active. Retinol speeds up cell turnover, softens fine lines, fades marks and keeps pores clear, but it can cause dryness, peeling and sun sensitivity while your skin adjusts.
Tea Tree Oil in short
An essential oil with modest evidence against mild acne. It works more slowly than benzoyl peroxide but causes less dryness. Undiluted it can irritate or sensitise skin, so it belongs in a formulated product.
