Frequently asked questions
Which skincare ingredients should not be used together?
The usual clashes are retinoids with strong exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA) in the same session, benzoyl peroxide with retinoids or vitamin C, and several strong actives layered on the same night. This chart marks every pair as great, safe, caution or avoid, and the checker above applies it to your own routine.
What does "caution" mean on the chart?
Caution means there is no dangerous reaction, but using both together raises irritation or reduces results. The usual fix is to move one to the morning and one to the evening, or alternate nights.
Is this a substitute for a dermatologist?
No. It is a general guide based on the ingredient chemistry and common clinical advice. If you use prescription products such as tretinoin, or you are pregnant, follow your doctor's plan.
