The verdict
Both are similarly gentle. Choose based on your main goal: Glutathione for pigmentation, dullness and antioxidant, PHA for texture, hydration and dullness.
Using both? Safe to mix There is no known chemical conflict between Glutathione and PHA, and neither makes the other less effective. They share a goal (dullness), so together they reinforce each other. How to layer them →
Glutathione in short
A popular "glow" antioxidant in India. Topically it has some evidence for mild brightening, but it is a large, unstable molecule. Expect modest results compared with vitamin C, arbutin or niacinamide.
PHA in short
Polyhydroxy acids are the gentlest chemical exfoliants. They work only on the surface, hydrate at the same time, and are usually tolerated by sensitive and rosacea-prone skin.
