Can you use Peptides with Salicylic Acid?

Use with caution

Yes, but not at the same time.

Low-pH acids can break down peptides, and with copper they can also irritate. Use the acid at one time of day and the peptide at the other, or on alternate nights.

How to use them

Alternate nights, for example Peptides on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and Salicylic Acid on Tuesday and Thursday, with a plain moisturiser night in between if your skin feels sensitive. If your skin is resilient and already used to both, you can try layering them: apply Salicylic Acid first, wait a few minutes, then apply Peptides.

What Peptides does

Short chains of amino acids that signal skin to support collagen and repair. They are gentle, a good anti-ageing option for people who cannot tolerate retinoids, and they layer easily.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Peptides and Salicylic Acid together?

Yes, but not at the same time. Low-pH acids can break down peptides, and with copper they can also irritate. Use the acid at one time of day and the peptide at the other, or on alternate nights.

Which goes first, Peptides or Salicylic Acid?

Apply Salicylic Acid first, then Peptides. The general rule is thinnest to thickest texture, and lowest pH first. For this pair, though, it is better not to layer them in the same routine at all.

Should I use Peptides in the morning or at night?

Peptides: works morning or night. Use morning and night after water-based serums. Low-pH acids applied at the same time can break some peptides down.

Should I use Salicylic Acid in the morning or at night?

Salicylic Acid: works morning or night. Use as a cleanser daily or a leave-on 2% serum 3–4 times a week. It can dry out skin, so moisturise well.

Is Peptides with Salicylic Acid safe during pregnancy?

Neither is a known risk in normal cosmetic amounts, but guidance varies for Salicylic Acid. Check with your doctor.
