Can you use Exosomes with Lactic Acid?

Use with caution

Yes, but not at the same time.

Low-pH acids can break down peptides, and with copper they can also irritate. Use the acid at one time of day and the peptide at the other, or on alternate nights.

How to use them

Alternate nights, for example Exosomes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and Lactic Acid on Tuesday and Thursday, with a plain moisturiser night in between if your skin feels sensitive. If your skin is resilient and already used to both, you can try layering them: apply Lactic Acid first, wait a few minutes, then apply Exosomes.

What Exosomes does

Tiny cell-signalling particles, most often derived from plant or stem-cell cultures for cosmetic use. In-clinic exosome treatments (injected or applied after microneedling) have more published evidence than the topical serums sold direct to consumers. Regulatory status varies by country, and topical evidence is still described as early and limited, so treat "regeneration" or anti-ageing claims with caution.

What Lactic Acid does

A gentler AHA with a larger molecule. It exfoliates while also acting as a humectant, so it suits dry and sensitive skin that cannot tolerate glycolic acid.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Exosomes and Lactic Acid together?

Yes, but not at the same time. Low-pH acids can break down peptides, and with copper they can also irritate. Use the acid at one time of day and the peptide at the other, or on alternate nights.

Which goes first, Exosomes or Lactic Acid?

Apply Lactic Acid first, then Exosomes. The general rule is thinnest to thickest texture, and lowest pH first. For this pair, though, it is better not to layer them in the same routine at all.

Should I use Exosomes in the morning or at night?

Exosomes: works morning or night. If using a topical exosome serum, apply after cleansing and before heavier creams. For in-clinic exosome treatments, use only a qualified, licensed practitioner and ask what the exosomes are derived from.

Should I use Lactic Acid in the morning or at night?

Lactic Acid: best at night. Use 2–3 nights a week. It is good for beginners to exfoliation. Follow with a moisturiser, and wear SPF the next day.

Is Exosomes with Lactic Acid safe during pregnancy?

Neither is a known risk in normal cosmetic amounts, but guidance varies for Exosomes. Check with your doctor.
