What PDRN does
Polydeoxyribonucleotide, a salmon-DNA-derived ingredient best known from in-clinic "salmon DNA" injections and now sold in serums. Early clinical studies suggest it may support tissue repair and hydration, but topical (as opposed to injected) evidence is still limited, so treat claims of dramatic results with caution.

What Retinal does
Retinaldehyde is one conversion step closer to retinoic acid than retinol, so it works faster than retinol while usually being gentler than tretinoin. It also has a mild antibacterial effect useful for acne.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use PDRN and Retinal together?
Yes, it is safe. There is no known chemical conflict between PDRN and Retinal, and neither makes the other less effective. They share a goal (aging), so together they reinforce each other.
Which goes first, PDRN or Retinal?
Apply PDRN first, then Retinal. The general rule is thinnest to thickest texture, and lowest pH first.
Should I use PDRN in the morning or at night?
PDRN: works morning or night. Use as a serum step, morning or night. It has no known irritancy, so it layers easily with most other actives. It is not a substitute for an in-clinic PDRN treatment, which uses injectable-grade material under medical supervision.
Should I use Retinal in the morning or at night?
Retinal: best at night. Start at 0.05% two or three nights a week and build up slowly. Buffer with moisturiser if you are sensitive, and wear SPF daily.
Is PDRN with Retinal safe during pregnancy?
Retinal is generally avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Ask your doctor about safer alternatives such as azelaic acid or bakuchiol.
